forces, the ideal situation, barriers that stand
in the way and recommendations that can be
developed for each issue listed below.
This is an opportunity to take a wealth of
knowledge and perspectives ad turn them into
strategic partnerships that, over time, will
lead to collective actions impacting Northeastern
Colorado.

Youth Climate - Old
Town Church
Opportunities for the future can be directly
correlated to how well a community educates,
fosters and develops its youth. There are
many aspects that impact the services,
resources, and opportunities offered to children
and young adults in Northeast Colorado.
This brief two hour discussion will look at some
of the ways in which youth are supported by
agencies and nonprofits, what an ideal climate
and reality would be be like for youth, what
stands in the way of that, and what
recommendations can be put forward to
nonprofits, government, businesses, and grant
makers to being overcoming the barriers that
weaken the potential for youth in Northeast
Colorado.
Healthcare Today & Tomorrow - Old
Town Longhorn Saloon
The access to and provision of healthcare is one
of the most controversial issues facing the
entire nation today. There is no exception
in Northeast Colorado especially in the areas of
recruitment and retention of medical providers,
Medicaid, facilities, mental health, substance
abuse, and much more. This brief two hour
discussion will look at some of the ways
healthcare needs are served, what an ideal
healthcare system would look like, what stands
in the way of that, and what recommendations can
be put forward to nonprofits, government,
businesses, and grant makers to begin overcoming
barriers to accessible and effective healthcare
in Northeast Colorado.
Family Services - Old
Town Barn
Families are one of the most basic building
blocks that make up our society. How we
serve them directly impacts how well they
contribute to the community. Human
services, affordable housing, transportation,
domestic violence, and much more impacts the
lives of families throughout Northeast Colorado,
and although there are many organizations
serving their needs, there remains significant
gaps especially among those with very low
incomes. This brief two hour discussion
will look at some of the ways lower incomes
families are supported by agencies and
nonprofits, what an ideal supportive family
environment looks like, what stands in the way
of that, and what recommendations can be put
forward to nonprofits, government, businesses
and grant makers to begin overcoming barriers
that weaken the potential for families in
Northeast Colorado.
Economy - Old Town
Wagon Wheel Room
Although there are signs that the economy is
heading toward difficult times nationally, there
are unique issues facing Northeast Colorado's
economy that are and will impact the region's
viability. Issues such as water,
agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy,
foreclosures, and much more face Northeast
Colorado today with undeniable impacts for the
future. This brief tow hour discussion
will look at some of the driving forces
impacting the economy, what indicates a strong
local economy, what stands in the way, and what
recommendations can be put forward to
nonprofits, government, businesses and grant
makers to begin overcoming circumstances
currently weakening Northeast Colorado's
economy.

Governance and Leadership-
Old Town Barn Main Floor
The purpose of this particular session
will be to look at the impact, issues,
opportunities, best practices, and
recommendations around nonprofit leadership in
Northeast Colorado. This session will focus on
what the typical best practices around
leadership development for boards as well as
among staff. In a discussion format we
will hear from YOUR experiences in the field of
leadership and board development, share stories
of success and failure, explore what issues in
NE Colorado impact these topics, and generate a
set of recommendations that nonprofits should be
using to strengthen their organization in the
areas of leadership and board development.
Scarcity versus Resources "Dancing with
the one who brung you" - Old Town Longhorn
Saloon
The purpose of this session will be to
look at some of the driving forces creating both
opportunity and concern regarding nonprofit
fundraising and financial sustainability.
This session will focus on what the typical best
practices are around fundraising and creating
diverse income streams. In a discussion
format we will hear from YOUR experiences in the
field of fundraising, share stories of success
and failure, explore what issues in NE Colorado
impact opportunity, and generate a set of
recommendations that nonprofits should be using
to strengthen their fundraising potential.
Program Development and Evaluation - Old
Town Church
The purpose of this session will be to look at
some of the driving forces impacting program
creation, implementation and evaluation among
nonprofits in NE Colorado. This session will
focus on what the typical best practices are
around forming new programs, keeping them
sustainable, and measuring their impact.
In a discussion format we will hear from YOUR
experiences regarding these topics and generate
a set of recommendations that nonprofits should
be using to strengthen their programming.
Shoveling for Capital - Old Town Wagon
Wheel Room
The purpose of this particular session will be
to look at some of the driving forces impacting
successful and unsuccessful capital campaigns in
NE Colorado. This session will focus on
what the typical best practices are around
capital campaigns; when they make sense, how
they are run, who is involved, and how to finish
one. In a discussion format we will hear
from YOUR experiences regarding these topics and
generate a set of recommendations that
nonprofits should be using when considering a
capital campaign.
